Members from across the South West came together at Stonehenge in June for the Federation’s 95th Annual General Meeting, combining formal business with a fabulous day of networking, inspiration and behind-the-scenes insight – all within the World Heritage Site landscape.
Hosted by English Heritage, the event offered an exciting look at the future of learning and engagement at the World Heritage Site. Members heard about the ambitious new Kusuma Neolithic Hall and sustainable Learning Centre, both designed to transform how schools, families and informal learners experience Stonehenge. Seeing these projects taking shape, and hearing how partnerships and fundraising are bringing them to life, was a real highlight.
We were also delighted to hear an update on Tavistock Museum‘s A Stitch in Time project, which received last year’s inaugural Kathy Callow Legacy Fund award. The funding has helped conserve and reinterpret the museum’s social history collections, improve collections care and create new ways for visitors to engage with local stories. It was a wonderful example of how targeted funding can help small museums care for collections and share them with wider audiences.
The AGM also marked the opening of applications for the 2026 Kathy Callow Legacy Fund, giving members the opportunity to find out more about this year’s funding round.
As always, the AGM was a valuable opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, welcome new members and share ideas with museum and heritage professionals from across the region.
