Normally available to Newt members only, we are delighted to offer the exclusive opportunity to visit The Newt in Somerset to SWFed members.
Your tour begins with an introduction to the archaeology of Villa Ventorum by archaeologist Ric Weeks, VA Exhibitions Manager, followed by a self-guided tour of the Museum and reconstructed Roman villa. Afterwards, you will have free time for lunch and to explore The Newt, including The Story of Gardening exhibition, Beezantium and our magical gardens.
Ric Weeks has an extensive background in Roman Archaeology. His career in the field began with a series of research excavation projects a At Winchester University, followed by three years with Oxford Archaeology Department. Progressing into heritage management, at first with English Heritage and then the National Trust, he was very pleased to return to Somerset to join The Newt estate as Exhibitions Manager.

10.30 Introduction to the archaeological background and virtual villa reconstruction project with Ric Weeks
11.30 Complete visit of museum and villa with audioguide
12.30 Free time to enjoy lunch and other Newt attractions (e.g. Story of Gardening experience and Beezantium)
2.30 Gather in the Threshing Barn for final reflections and Q&A with Archive Team
