About this event
A hybrid in person and online event.
We are delighted to be holding our first in person event of 2022 at The Bishop’s Palace, Wells. There is also an opportunity to join us for an online lunch time talk for people unable to attend the whole day.
Join us for a stimulating day in beautiful surroundings to learn about the Bishop’s Palace work with the local community and to network with colleagues from across the museum and heritage sector. During an interactive walk and a presentation (which will also be broadcast live online), we will experience how the Bishop’s Palace team have engaged a wide range of community groups during the pandemic to create a safe space throughout the 14 acre RHS Partner gardens. The garden fosters a positive mental and physical wellbeing experience for both visitors, volunteers and staff offering activities ranging from tai chi to community gardening. We will also discover how they are involving local people in the early planning stages to develop new interpretation in the palace, chapel and ruined medieval great hall. This is a day to relax and be inspired.
There will be opportunities for discussion and networking throughout the day and there is plenty of space to allow for social distancing. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or to use the café on site.
Our host for the day is Siobhan Goodwin, Community Engagement Manager at The Bishops’ Palace. Siobhan has worked in the voluntary sector in the South-West for the last 30 years, mainly in Youth & Community Work, and more recently in Heritage. When she isn’t working at The Bishop’s Palace, she runs guided tours with Wells Walking Tours.
