Museum of Homelessness Finds A Permanent Home

The Museum of Homelessness (MoH) was created 10 years ago and this year opened its permanent home in the Old Victorian Park Keeper's Lodge in Finsbury Park, London.

During this one-hour webinar, Co-founder and Director Matt Turtle will share what it has been like to open a socially focused community museum at a time of widespread public underfunding, rising homelessness and cultural disharmony. In particular, this talk will explore how the museum balances activity that is created with and for the homeless community and public engagement, and what it has been like to co-create their new space in Finsbury Park.

About the Speaker:

Matt is the co-founder and Director of the UK’s first Museum of Homelessness. He has 17 years of experience in the cultural sector. Matt holds an MA in Curating design and has also authored book chapters on the arts, trauma, representation and power. He has most recently been published by Routledge (2020 and 2024) and Oxford University Press (2021).
