Discover King Alfred’s Winchester with the 878 AD experience Come and try the immersive 878 AD experience in Winchester, com
In 2022, Hampshire Cultural Trust opened ‘878 AD’, an innovative and award-winning visitor attraction that tells the story of 9th-century Winchester and how it transformed under the reign of King Alfred. Come and try the experience for yourself and see how they combine real museum collections, immersive theatre, and augmented reality to bring history to life.
After your visit, head over to The Arc, the recently re-launched art, library and community space, also managed by Hampshire Cultural Trust to meet the team behind the project and hear how they collaborated with gaming company, Ubisoft, app developer, Sugar Creative, and attraction designers, Sarner International, to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
The visit includes:
- Admission to the 878 AD experience
- Self-guided use of 878 AD walking app tour of Winchester
- Lunch and networking with fellow SWFed members
- Presentations with the creative team and Q&A session
Our hosts for the day will be Katerina Kremmida, Director of Heritage and Attractions; Jaane Rowehl, Director of Heritage and Attractions and Director of Collections and Programming; and Amy Jenkins Le Guerroue, Strategic Alliances Director at Ubisoft
