Event Description
South West Fed presents a panel of representatives from across the south west heritage sector who will give insight into their career paths, advice on next stages for students and early career professionals and the opportunity to network with others.
We are delighted that Karina Virahsawmy and Laurence Harvey will be joining us for an online session on all things careers!
Karina Virahsawmy is Assistant Curator at the Alfred Gillett Trust in Somerset. She entered the heritage sector via a love of art, costume, fashion theory and returning to Higher Education. She has worked for the Alfred Gillett Trust for over 8 years and has recently managed a digitisation project, led a collaboration with the Fashion Museum in Bath and been a part of the AGT’s series of online talks.
Laurence Harvey is Senior Volunteering and Community Officer for the National Trust at Lanhydrock in Cornwall. He has worked in the volunteering sector at the National Trust for 8 years across three different sites in Cornwall. He also has spent time in visitor experience roles at the Museum of London and in volunteering at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
Both presenters with give a short introductory presentation about their experiences and advice they can offer for those who are looking to enter the heritage sector, followed by the opportunity to ask questions and really get the low down on what you need as a candidate to get into the heritage sector.
