The Power of Play

Our recent event was an engaging discussion on the Power of Play and how it can support growth. Our two speakers were Charlotte Derry Founder of Playful Places and Ameneh Enayat, Head of Creative Programmes at the Story Museum. They gave some illustrative ideas on different types and scale of play, from the ticketed play gallery ‘Small Worlds’ at the Story Museum to various ideas from Charlotte’s practice.

That play can be delivered on different scales was one of the strong themes that came out through the discussion. This linked to encouragement from the speakers for attendees to just start trying out some playful ideas to test what works for their audiences. And adult audiences were also discussed, don’t forget that we need play in our lives too!

There was also some useful advice around building a culture of play and the importance of providing support and training for staff around providing playful opportunities.

So thanks once again to our speakers and our attendees for a really interesting and engaging discussion.
